Great Estonian things - the life of the coastal people B1+ (Tallinn)/GROUP FULL

The event is intended for language learners interested in the Estonian culture who want to improve their Estonian language skills using active learning methods while simultaneously getting to know Estonian traditions and customs.

The educational and action-packed excursion programme in the Viimsi Open Air Museum introduces the life and activities of the coastal people in the old days and talks about modern customs and traditions.

The tour of the old houses and the exhibits in them introduce the daily life of the fishing village in the old days. Participants can also try using old tools. We will also focus on fish and fishing. Participants will be able to enjoy freshly smoked fish.

Outdoor gym session A2+ (Tallinn)/GROUP FULL

Before the summer solstice, we will meet with personal trainer Tõnu Sillaots in the outdoor gym on Piiri Street in Nõmme. Participants will be able to work out and learn more about the Estonian language.

Tõnu Sillaots will introduce the equipment to the participants and they’ll also be able to work out. Everyone is welcome – there is plenty of room. Working out in the fresh air will put you in a good mood.

Tõnu has many years of experience as a group and personal trainer. He believes that taking care of your health is one of the most important things you can do because a strong body keeps us healthy even in old age. Tõnu works as a group and personal trainer at Tallinn CrossFit and as a rescuer at the Rescue Board.

In this meeting that is dedicated to the year of mobility, participants will be able to practice the Estonian language, learn new words, admire the beautiful nature of the capital, and hear about opportunities for being active.

Exploring the urban space of Tallinn – Botanic Garden B1+ (Tallinn)/GROUP FULL

Come on a guided walk to discover the urban space of Tallinn!

This is a series of activities supporting the learning of the Estonian language for adults whose mother tongue is not Estonian. As part of the series, we will discover different areas of Tallinn together with an Estonian-speaking guide. We will get to know the urban space and attractions and discover interesting historical connections.

Our walk will take place in Tallinn Botanic Garden. We will learn about the main purpose and history of the Botanic Garden, as well as its landscape and collections. We can explore the evergreen forest of the Mediterranean, deserts of America and Africa, the lushness of the rainforest, and the peculiar plants of Australia and New Zealand. We will get an overview of alpine plants, ornamental plants, tall perennials, woody plants, and many others. Irises, peonies, and rhododendrons bloom in June.

Participants can practice the Estonian language and learn more about the culture and history of Estonia.

Cultural trip to Narva B1+ (Tallinn)

The event is intended for language learners interested in culture to introduce Estonia outside of Harju County.

The one-day trip will take you to Narva, which is the easternmost city in Estonia and where life is quite different. We will visit the Kreenholm Manufacturing Company, which at the end of the 19th century was one of the largest textile companies in the world, and where around 10,000 people worked in the 80s. We will also visit the Narva Art Residency, where we will meet exciting people and admire their creations.

The event series ‘Discovering Estonian islands’ gives an opportunity to get to know the small islands near Tallinn, as well as their living conditions and culture, and practice the Estonian language.

NB! You can pick one trip. The day trips will take us to the islands of Prangli and Aegna and Naissaar.

Gathering at 9:30 a.m. at the A2 pier at the Seaplane harbour. We will return to Tallinn at 16:30. There is an excursion on the island by boxcar and train. We also offer lunch. Dress according to the weather, wear comfortable shoes.

NB! You can pick one trip. The day trips will take us to the islands of Prangli and Aegna and Naissaar.

The bus to the port leaves in front of the Estonian language house in Tallinn at 8:00 am. Gathering at Leppnemee harbor at 8:30 am. The ship departs at 9:00 AM. On the island, there will be an excursion with a box car and an off-road game. We also offer lunch. The ship will return to Leppneem at 17:30. The bus back to the Estonian language house in Tallinn arrives at 18.00. Dress according to the weather, wear comfortable shoes.

We will gather at 9:30 at the Linnahalli port. We will return to Tallinn at 18:00. On the island there is a tour with a guide and a landscape game. We also offer lunch. Dress according to the weather. On the island, we travel long distances on foot.
