The Ida-Viru Enterprise Centre, in cooperation with the Integration Foundation and with support from the Swiss–Estonian Cooperation Programme, is once again bringing the popular Ida-Viru Night Cinema to the region.
From 28 July to 27 August, the Ida-Viru Night Cinema will travel across the county, visiting both familiar and new locations. This year, the programme will begin on the steps of Mere Boulevard in Sillamäe and continue at the lighthouse area in Narva-Jõesuu, the Kauksi Beach Centre, Kiviõli Central Square, Toila Beach, before concluding at the Kohtla-Järve Cultural Centre.
This year's programme focuses primarily on Estonian films, featuring a selection of beloved classics alongside uplifting new releases.
The programme features films that reflect different generations, values and life experiences. While classic films introduce audiences to the golden heritage of Estonian cinema and evoke a sense of familiarity, newer feature films and documentaries invite viewers to reflect on contemporary society, the people around us and our shared cultural space.
The programme features comedies, dramas, inspiring true stories, and films about the people of Estonia and their lives. One of the key selection criteria was to ensure that the films would appeal to audiences of all ages and offer an enjoyable cinema experience for the whole family.
Special attention was given to stories from Estonia and works by Estonian filmmakers. Many of the films have been made in recent years and reflect the ongoing development of Estonian cinema, while the classics help preserve a connection with Estonia's cultural heritage.
We hope the summer film nights will offer not only great films, but also an opportunity to meet, spend time together and enjoy the unique atmosphere of open-air cinema.
Each screening will be preceded by the traditional quiz, with small prizes for participants. We're confident that everyone will find something to enjoy in the programme.
